Abstract

Although sexual violence is a widespread criminological and victimological phenomenon, the issue of false allegations of victimization remains a particularly controversial topic. In order to avoid framing the discussion within the context of gender-based conflict, this paper focuses on non-criminological forms of misuse involving false accusations of sexual violence. Special attention is given to the statistical analysis of the prevalence of such cases, as well as the motivations of individuals who make false reports of sexual victimization. Finally, the paper offers several recommendations aimed at improving current practices, with the objective of reducing the incidence of false reporting and ensuring better protection for genuine victims of sexual violence.
